The Mianning-Dechang REE belt is composed of a number of REE deposits (e.g., Maoniuping, Dalucao, Muluozhai and Lizhuang). These REE deposits are associated with carbonatite-alkaline complex (Hou, et al, 2008), but the genesis of carbonatites have been argued: some researches (Liu et al, 2004) think they are igneous origin, nevertheless, others (Yuan, 1995) think they are hydrothermal origin, really belong to calcite vein. Based genesis of carbonatites, different researches come up with different deposit model, so the origin and evolution of carbonatites are the key aspect that review the REE mineralization associated with carbonatite-alkaline complex 2 Evidence for Igneous Origin
