state shale oil makes a major contribution to production, and there is no good way to quantitative characterization the free state shale oil and adsorbedstate shale oil as well as the relationship with surrounding media. This study used Rock-Eval 6 (RE6)to develop a technology of thermal release analysis method. 1 min hold at 200 °C (S11) followed byramped heating at 25 °C/min to 350 °C,with a1min hold(S1-2), then to 450 °C with a 1 min hold(S2-1), and finally to 600 °C(S2-2).Comprehensive research shows that S1-1 stands for light oil content of shale, S1-2 stands for light medium oil content, S1-1 and S1-2 stand for the free state shale oil, and S2-1 mainly stands for adsorbedstate shale oil (include heavy hydrocarbon and adsorbed– miscible phase, The parameters of S2-2 mainly characterize the hydrocarbon generating potential of the shale. The total S1-1, S1-2 and S2-1is the amount of shale oil. We use the technique to analysedesigned drilling core samples in Jiyang depression, studies have shown that there is an obvious positive correlation of adsorption oil content and organic matter abundance, rich in very complex atomic organic matter have higher adsorption capacity and increase with the maturity increasing of evolution, kerogen adsorption mutual solubility decreased; free oil because of good liquidity, is controlled by organic matter abundance, maturity, shale rock system matter, oil and gas migration and other multi factors. In the shale system, free oil content and organic matter abundance has a certain positive correlation, and free oil / adsorption oil ratio and organic carbon content has a negative correlation. Therefore, oil shale exploration should be mainly for the organic matter abundance, and free oil saturation (free oil / TOC) high layer. In addition, wealthy in the organic layer of organic lean sandwich, is the important oil shale exploration target layer as if it has high oiliness of free oil. The research method provide a scientific basis for the analysis of the occurrence mechanism of shale oil, the evaluation of oil content and the evaluation of the available resources of shale oil.
