Summary Incidental diagnosis of thyroid nodules is very common on adult neck ultrasonography ( US ) examination. They are primarily assessed on size and greyscale ultrasound criteria such as hypoechogenicity, taller than wide, spiculated margins and calcifications. In difficult situations D oppler US features may improve tumour characterisation and staging.
