Summary Bipartite lunate is a rare congenital anomaly of carpal bones. We present a report of two cases where children referred for determination of skeletal age were incidentally found to have bipartite lunate. In both cases, radiographic appearance of lunate could have been mistaken for secondary centres of ossification in other carpal bones. It is imperative for all radiologists to be aware of this rare congenital anomaly in order to avoid pitfalls in clinical diagnosis.
