Highlights Diabetes is associated with significant cognitive deficits that often go undiagnosed. However, the pattern of decline differs from the one seen in patients with mild cognitive impairment (amnestic type). This study adds to our knowledge about the connection between diabetes mellitus and cognition, and the particular pattern of cognitive deficit seen in diabetics.
