Taxonomic review of the genus L ymantria ( L epidoptera: E rebidae: L ymantriinae) in K orea

A taxonomic review of the K orean L ymantria   H übner, 1819 was conducted. A total of nine species of five subgenera with two unrecorded species are listed: L ymantria ( P orthetria ) dispar   L innaeus 1758, L . ( P .) xylina   S winhoe 1903, L . ( L ymantria ) monacha ( L innaeus 1758), L . ( L .) minomonis   M atsumura 1933 (new to K orea), L . ( L .) similis monachoides Schintlimeister 2004 (new to K orea), L . ( L .) lucescens ( B utler 1881), L . ( N yctria ) mathura   M oore 1865, L . ( C ollentria ) fumida   B utler 1877, and L . ( S pinotria ) bantaizana   M atsumura 1933. L ymantria ( L ymantria ) minomonis and L . ( L .) similis monachoides are newly added to the K orean fauna. L ymantria ( L .) minomonis was found only on B ogildo Island of J eollanam‐do in the southern part of K orea, and L . ( L .) similis monachoides was collected in central K orea. L ymantria ( P orthetria ) xylina and L . ( C ollentria ) fumida were not examined in this study, and it is considered that the previous records were due to misidentification or they are only distributed in the northern part of the K orean P eninsula. We provide diagnoses of two unrecorded species and adult habitus and genitalia photos of the K orean L ymantria species.
