A BSTRACT . I support ideas based on Henry George's writings but not as utopian. Reducing taxes that impede capital formation actually helps communities prosper. Furthermore, adopting a “two‐rate” property tax has always seemed sensible. The academic's role is to point to achievable benefits. Professor Samuels's paper helps us understand how the plurality of aspects and concerns of Georgism has diffused the attention of the Georgists away from a more modest but substantial point.
