This paper explores some issues in representing the geographies of mayoral power in contemporary Europe. It begins by summarizing the idea of a ‘Europe of the Cities’ and an emerging new mayoral political class in Europe, and then discusses some of the insights offered by cultural geography in conceptualizing this new agenda in urban politics.
