Ability research in psychology can be fraught with pitfalls that lead to inappropriate conclusions. These issues include lack of construct validity of the measures, misinterpretation of correlations and regression weights, lack of statistical power, failure to estimate cross‐validation effects, and misinterpretation of factor analytic results.
