Lynne McClure's article on supporting able mathematicians echoes some elements in the previous article on inclusion and entitlement, equality of opportunity and quality of provision. McClure reminds us of Freeman's (1998) remark that ‘a school's policy for its brightest pupils is an indication of how it attends to the different educational requirements of all its children’ and brings us up to speed on the acceleration/enrichment debate and the range of initiatives available to support the able mathematician.
