Nicola Coulling's study goes to the heart of the interagency relationship. Her purpose is to find out how those working across agency boundaries can be helped to develop a shared understanding of what counts as successful practice for each agency in relation to the education of ‘looked after’ children. Using Personal Construct Psychology as a tool to explore this, she finds that while there is consensus among the professional disciplines and children she interviewed, the resources and support required to ensure successful educational outcomes for ‘looked after’ children are inadequate.
