The authors of this article have developed an interesting method of identifying the perceptions of special educational needs coordinators. The use of ‘concept maps’, while not new, brings out contrasting views of the role. While the complexity of the job does not lend itself easily to simplistic analysis, as the writers concede, the technique can be deployed constructively in staff training.
