The role of the subject co‐ordinator is a relatively new one in many special schools and this article describes how a project was established in one school to promote a system of curriculum monitoring. Richard Rose and Liz Parsons pose important questions about this role and provide useful tips for monitoring the curriculum. Although the authors focus on special school experience, colleagues in similar positions in mainstream education will find much of interest here.
