Abstract Eldon Boone, a grain farmer in Manitoba, Canada, has traditionally delivered his grain locally and had it transported to port by rail. Because of rising costs for cleaning, handling, and freight, he has decided to assess the feasibility of trucking his own grain to port. This case looks at the feasibility analysis of Mr. Boone investing in his own grain cleaner, truck, and trailer and bypassing the regular handling and rail transportation system by trucking his own grain to port. A sensitivity analysis is provided to assess the risk associated with the investment.
