Two varieties of the Madagascan Aerangis ellisii (B.S. Williams) Schltr. ( Orchidaceae ), var. ellisii and var. grandiflora J. Stewart, are compared and the latter is illustrated. Their history, taxonomy, habitat and cultivation are discussed and a description of var. grandiflora is provided.
