Roscoea humeana Balf. f. & W.W. Sm. (Zingiberaceae) and its colour forms, from Sichuan and Yunnan provinces of western China, are discussed along with the history, taxonomy, distribution, ecology and cultivation requirements. The yellow form, described here as forma lutea Cowley, is illustrated and a full description of the species is provided.
