The history, taxonomy, distribution, habitat and cultivation requirements of Huernia macrocarpa ssp. macrocarpa (A. Rich) Sprenger from Ethiopa and Huernia kennedyana Lavranos, a South African endemic, are discussed; the two species are fully described and colour illustrations are provided.
