Setting and scope Student involvement in course direction, in a large, first-year Management Information Systems course, is the subject of this paper. Student involvement is in harmony with the student-centred ambitions of the course that had its genesis in the late 80’s, motivated by a building disquiet with the atmosphere and outcomes of teaching/ learning in a traditional setting. This disquiet is now well recognized in the literature (Boud, 1988).
