This piece introduces a new way of looking at concepts called Hazyspace. It has general applicability to education but in this article is used to describe how new users conceptualise software. Existing understandings of the mental world of the new user of software have failed because as researchers and practitioners develop computing expertise they lose that understanding of what it is to be a new user. We need to re-understand the user and their mental processes.
