Cover image: Coral reef biodiversity is best supported through an assortment of microhabitat types, including coral species of differing morphologies, as well as dead coral. Interestingly, the greatest density and diversity of animals on coral reefs is found in coral rubble – broken dead coral fragments that scatter the seafloor. Stella et al. highlight this overlooked biodiversity in coral reefs across a range of microhabitats with links to water quality and reef fish biomass. See Pp. 2203–2219. Photo: Kennedy Wolfe.
