Abstract The current study aimed to validate the Persian version of the Revised Sense of Purpose Scale (SOPS‐2‐PERS) in Iranian university students. Data were collected from 854 students from two independent samples. The psychometric properties of the SOPS‐2‐PERS were analysed using confirmatory factor analysis. We evaluated its internal reliability, convergent and divergent validity. Tests of measurement invariance were conducted across samples (Sample 1 and Sample 2) and gender (males and females). The results provided evidence for the satisfactory psychometric properties, good reliability and validity of the SOPS‐2‐PERS. Also, multigroup factor analyses based on sample and gender confirmed the scale's structure. Therefore, the SOPS‐2‐PERS is an effective instrument to measure the purpose of life of Iranian adults.
