It seems like yesterday that the inaugural issue of IEEE Journal of Electron Devices Society (J-EDS) was published on January 1st 2013. Since then, the question keeps resurfacing why a 3rd publication was launched since Electron Devices Society already had Transactions on Electron Devices (T-ED) and Electron Device Letters (EDL) as its flagship publications. While the answer to this question was published in an earlier editorial [1] let me revisit this question briefly to set the stage for the material to follow.
