The molecule of the title comound, [Cu(C 36 H 20 N 4 )], is not entirely planar in the crystal structure ( i.e. not D 4 h ), but is slightly deformed, with only C i symmetry. The molecules are stacked along the b axis in a herring‐bone fashion.
