Hosemann's formula for X‐ray scattering by linear paracrystal is put into a form suitable for numerical analysis using exponential distribution function for the lengths of two phases namely amorphous and crystalline. A stepping refinement procedure was used to obtain the paracrystalline parameters so that the discrepancy between the calculated and the experimental intensity was minimised. It is observed that there are significant changes in distribution of phases lengths in wet and dry nylon 6 samples.
