Small‐angle scattering is a technique capable of supplying only limited information about the structures of biological materials. Nevertheless, small‐angle methods can contribute significantly to our understanding of biological systems when appropriately applied. Several successful applications of small‐angle scattering to biological problems are discussed to illustrate the ways in which the method can be used to good effect.
