The application of the Fourier chopper in the reverse time‐of‐flight mode to upgrading the performance of neutron powder diffractometry at pulsed sources is considered. Exploitation of a dual‐delay‐line binary correlator is suggested and a comprehensive analysis of the necessary data acquisition process is given. The best benefit is shown to be achievable at intensity optimized moderators.
