The Fourier method has been utilized to analyse line profile broadening and root‐mean‐square strain of synthetically prepared γ ‐MnO 2 . The effect of temperature on crystallite size and strain has also been investigated. The crystallites are found to be highly anisotropic even after annealing at high temperature. The crystallite size and strain do not affect the depolarization capacity of MnO 2 up to 573 K.
