A simple analytic method to correct the experimentally observed spin‐flip and non‐spin‐flip scattering cross sections in neutron polarization analysis experiments for the effects of multiple scattering is presented. From known parameters of the constituent elements of a specimen and from the measured experimental cross sections the single scattering cross sections can readily be determined. This is particularly useful in situations where the scattering is isotropic or exhibits only slight angular dependence.
