Powder data for bis(α‐ l ‐alaninato)nickel(lI) tetrahydrate (monoclinic), bis(α‐ l ‐alaninato)cadmium(II) trihydrate (hexagonal) and bis(α‐ l ‐alaninato)cadmium(II) (orthorhombic) are reported. Ni(C 3 H 6 NO 2 ) 2 .4H 2 O: M r = 306.9, C 2, Cm or C 2/ m , a = 20.34(1), b = 6.48(9), c = 9.73(7) Å, β = 93.0(3)°, V = 1283(28) Å 3 , Z = 4, D m = 1.54(3), D x = 1.56 Mg m −3 , Cu K α (λ = 1.5418 Å); Cd(C 3 H 6 NO 2 ) 2 .3H 2 O: M r = 342.6, P 3 1 12, P 3 1 21, P 3 2 12 or P 3 2 21, a = 6.37 (1), c = 25.5(7) Å, V = 899(32) Å 3 , Z = 3, D m = 1.86(4), D x = 1.90 Mg m −3 , Cu K α; Cd(C 3 H 6 NO 2 ) 2 : M r = 288.6, a = 5.45(2), b = 9.19(6), c = 18.08(4) Å, V = 907(11) Å 3 , Z = 4, D m = 2.00(5), D x = 2.11 Mg m −3 , Cu K α.
