X‐ray diffraction data obtained by scattering Mo K α radiation from Fe4.7Co70.3Si15B10 in an as‐received and an annealed state are analysed to show that the average number of nearest neighbours in the alloy is 12.5±0.4 atoms, in both states. The alloy does not appear to contain clusters and the effect of the annealing process used is to reduce density fluctuations by a factor of about 0.7.
