A method for obtaining the surface areas `void‐support' ( S 21 ), `metal‐support' ( S 31 ) and `metal‐void' ( S 32 ) from small‐angle X‐ray determinations of the initial slopes of the correlation functions of metal‐free porous support and supported metal catalyst is given. The postulated model requires no special assumptions about the numerical value of S 31 , and appears applicable to certain experimentally observed systems.
