The anserine ( N ‐ β ‐alanyl‐methyl‐ l ‐histidine) nitrate crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P 2 1 with a = 16.597 (3), b = 30.305 (5), c = 5.505 (5) Å and β = 90.04 (5)°. There are four independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. Crystallization of other anserine salts is in progress.
