Instabilities in the mechanical set‐up and in the electronic equipment for measuring intensities can be detected by a statistical analysis of a series of profile measurements of one reflexion. The analysis is carried out in three steps starting with the raw data which, at stage 2, are corrected for a drift of intensity and at stage 3 for a drift of the scanning angle.
