The role of Soller slits in small‐angle scattering collimation systems

Theory is developed which allows the quantitative evaluation of an `effective' slit‐length weighting function for small‐angle diffractometers which make use of Soller slits. The theory is illustrated with an example and the disadvantages connected with the use of Soller slits in SAXS experiments are discussed.
