The proportions of MC and M 2 C 3 phases [where M = (U–Pu)] in two‐phased mixed carbides (U–Pu)C have been measured at various compositions by an X‐ray diffraction method. This method is based upon the comparison of integrated intensities of X‐ray lines and allows a rapid determination of the amount of sesquicarbide M 2 C 3 with a detection limit around 0.5 % and a relative accuracy better than 5%.
