The cell dimensions of W 1−x Ta x Se 2 have been measured over the composition range 0 ≤ x ≤ 1. Apart from four weak unidentified lines whose intensity varies with method of preparation the X‐ray powder patterns show a hexagonal call for which c decreases and a increases linearly with x over the whole composition range.
