Diffusion experiments involving Pu–Cu, PuGa–Cu and PuGa–Ni couples, have brought into evidence the binary compounds PuCu 2 and PuCu 4 , a ternary compound PuCu 3 with variable small amounts of gallium and the ternary compounds Pu 2 Ni 2 Ga and PuNiGa. The crystalline parameters of these compounds were determined by the Debye–Scherrer method using alloys obtained by direct processing. Powder X‐ray diffraction showed the isomorphism of PuCu 2 with CeCu 2 and that all the above compounds are orthorhombic.
