A procedure is presented for the separation of the local‐order intensity scattered by a binary body‐centred cubic alloy along three lines in reciprocal space. Linear Fourier coefficients are defined for the distribution of the local‐order intensity along these lines and these are related to the Warren local‐order coefficients, α i . The local‐order coefficients have been obtained by this so‐called linear analysis for Fe‐3.9 at.% Mo and Fe‐6.1 at.% Mo, and are compared with local‐order coefficients derived by Fourier analysis of the local‐order intensity in its minimum repeat volume.
