STEREOPOLE is a software package for the analysis of X‐ray diffraction pole figures. It allows experimental data to be compared graphically with simulated results, and epitaxic relationships to be evaluated between up to five different crystal layers. STEREOPOLE has been developed in IDL 6.0 (Interactive Data Language) and can be run within the freely obtainable IDL runtime environment (IDL Virtual Machine) of Research Systems Inc.
