A detailed analysis of the performance of a SANS instrument with variable‐geometry converging multichannel collimation is carried out. Count‐rate gains relative to conventional SANS arrangements obtained by using the XY variable‐geometry converging multichannel collimator either as a single unit or in association with similar units are discussed.
