A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-motile and rod-shaped or filamentous bacterial strain, designated SHSM-M15 T , was isolated from a salt marsh at Siheung in Republic of Korea and identified by polyphasic taxonomic study. Strain SHSM-M15 T grew optimally at 25 °C, at pH 7.0-8.0 and in the presence of 1.0-2.0 % (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain SHSM-M15 T clusters with the type strain of Ancylomarina subtilis , showing 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 97.8 %. Strain SHSM-M15 T had 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities of less than 93.7 % with the type strains of other recognised species. Strain SHSM-M15 T contained MK-7 as the predominant menaquinone and iso-C 15 : 0 , iso-C 15 : 0 3-OH and anteiso-C 15 : 0 as the major fatty acids. The major polar lipid detected in strain SHSM-M15 T was phosphatidylethanolamine. The DNA G+C content of strain SHSM-M15 T from genomic sequence was 36.6 %. Mean DNA-DNA relatedness value between strain SHSM-M15 T and the type strain of A. subtilis was 18 % and the average nucleotide identity value between strain SHSM-M15 T and the type strain of A. subtilis was 87.98 %. The phylogenetic and genetic data and differential phenotypic properties indicated that strain SHSM-M15 T is separated from A. subtilis . On the basis of the polyphasic data presented, strain SHSM-M15 T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Ancylomarina , for which the name Ancylomarina salipaludis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SHSM-M15 T (=KACC 19862 T =NBRC 113749 T ).
