Postamputation pain is high in patients with nontraumatic lower-extremity amputations, but the pooled prevalence rates were associated with high levels of heterogeneity. Ongoing research using the Durham Pain Investigations Group Postamputation Pain Algorithm taxonomy is needed to fully delineate the prevalence of postamputation pain and its subtypes.
