Summary Plastic surgeons are medicine’s wound experts. Many of the world’s poor cannot afford expensive wound management programs. All humans suffer open and closed wounds at some point in their life and must look after them. The purpose of this paper is to provide basic information to the public in very simple terms on how to safely and inexpensively manage wounds. This paper is directed to all nonmedical people, medical students, and other doctors who may not be content experts in this field.
