To effectively introduce a rotavirus vaccine in developing countries, it is necessary to estimate the burden of rotavirus disease. Therefore we examined the epidemiologic and clinical features of rotavirus diarrhea in children younger than 5 years of age in Carabobo State and extrapolated these results to the rest of Venezuela.
