The study was conducted to investigate candidate materials as anti‐inflammation agent from Hibiscus manihot L. water extract (HMWE). Activities of HMWE with the final concentration of 1 mg/mL were evaluated on the several inflammation related markers such as the release of proinflammatoty cytokine of tumor necrosis factor‐alpha (TNF‐α), interleukin‐6 (IL‐6), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase‐2 (COX‐2) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) treated RAW 264.7 cells. The results revealed that the HMWE exhibited potent anti‐inflammatory action. HMWE treatment decreased the release NO and inhibited the mRNA expression of TNF‐α, COX‐2, iNOS, IL‐1β and IL‐6 in the LPS‐stimulated RAW 264.7 cells.
