With the decline of contact hours over the last decade and recent emphasis on competency‐based medical education, a significant reduction has occurred in the amount of material that faculty are able to cover in the anatomical sciences. As a result, many faculty struggle with the decision of what to teach within a limited amount of time. A need exists for faculty to have guidelines or recommendations of defined objectives in the anatomical sciences. In response to that need, a task force has been formed over the past year to tap into the collective wisdom of a group of anatomy faculty and clinicians. This team is working together to develop a core subset of anatomical information that is essential for all future health professionals to know. The organization, timeline, and development of this Anatomical Content Task Force and its quest to determine essential content for histology, gross anatomy and neuroscience will be presented.
