It has been said that stories are remembered 22 times more than facts alone. Last year at American Association of Anatomists meeting we heard an eloquent appeal for teaching science through story telling by Sean Carroll of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. What are the elements of a good story? Drawing from diverse perspectives such as Andrew Stanton, the screenwriter of WALL‐E and Finding Nemo, Oliver Sachs, Rita Charon, Nicole Woods, Raphael Luna and others, this talk will review and give examples of useful elements that work together to make a good story. We will see that there is not one formula but many that are offered. A good story can be told in many different lengths as well. We will also find pearls that can be taken from this variety of voices to help us build our skills and cultivate the art of story telling in education.
