During routine dissection, a double superior vena cava, which is commonly known as persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) was observed in a 75‐ year‐old female cadaver. PLSVC drained into the right atrium through the coronary sinus. Coronary sinus was abnormally dilated to accommodate the large volume of venous blood reaching it through the PLSVC. Three sets of veins; common cardinal, anterior cardinal and posterior cardinal veins are involved in the normal development of the vena cavae. Embryological basis of PLSVC and its clinical significance in heart diseases will be discussed.
