During anatomy lab dissections, paperback dissectors and atlases are frequently used tools navigating students through detailed dissection procedures and guiding them for structure identifications. Electronic devices such as computers and iPads consolidate these tools. The purpose of this project is to utilize computer technology and provide students an interactive video dissection guide so that the text descriptions are converted to spoken language and the still images are “live” to them. We hope that this will also save students time in dissection. In the past five years, with the help of a Sky‐Eye video camera, we have accumulated hundreds of hours of dissection video recordings done by our anatomy faculty for review purpose. These video recordings were reviewed and studied by three medical students in the summer of 2014. Short video clips that can be used as dissection procedure guidance were selected and composed into a dissection book on a computer. The dissection book contains brief text descriptions inserted with less than 5 minutes long video instructions for dissection. The completed dissection book was loaded onto iPads and made available to each dissection tank. Students can follow the video clip instructions throughout their dissections. The evaluation of this interactive video dissection guide is done by a post‐exam questionnaire and the answers are subjected to statistical analysis.
