The prevalence of childhood obesity has continued to rise in US over the past decade. The purpose of the study was to determine if the CATCH Kids Club ( CKC ) nutrition and physical activity program was effective in changing knowledge, and consumption of fruits and vegetables. The subjects in the study were 7‐11 year olds who attend the Boys and Girls Club. 43 children (33 boys and 10 girls) participated in the CKC intervention at the Boys & Girls Club. The results revealed improved knowledge of the intake of fruits and vegetables. The results also showed increased consumption of fruits and vegetables from pre‐intervention to post‐intervention. Over a two month period, the implementation of the CKC Program proved to be successful in increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables consumed by the students who participated. More evaluation of the CKC Program in similar environments (short or long‐term) could be beneficial to increase knowledge and health of our young school‐age children.
